The faster and more modern the computer is the faster Word will open. I agree that the wait time is slower on older machines but on a fast machine it’s almost as fast as Wordpad or Notepad.

This may have been the case with NVDA on some machines but I think this has been largely dealt with, particularly on up-to-date systems. With JAWS there may have been slight differences between responsiveness in Word compared to Jarte or Wordpad but now the differences are almost imperceptible.

I seldom use Word but I think people want a program that opens faster. I don't know what the state is on fast current computers but on computers I use, being somewhat old and slower, Word opens much more slowly
