I almost never have messages arrive out of order with GMail and I've been using it for perhaps one-and-a-half years or perhaps two or more.  Also, my previous e-mail provider didn't have this problem.

I've been in the IT business for decades, and in all that time I can count on less than one hand the number of times significantly delayed or "out of sequence" delivery has occurred.

It is possible for a relay node to "get stuck" less than once in a blue moon, but it's exceedingly rare.  Email messages generally go across the globe in way less time than it took you to compose them and land in every email inbox that you sent them to.

I will never accept anyone who uses the "it's constantly arriving late" excuse, because I have enough professional experience to know just how rare that actually is.  And I particularly won't accept it when a reply is made hours to more than a day later.  There is no way, none, that anyone routinely receives any email messages hours after they're sent, and definitely not days.

Email is a mature technology with very predictable outcomes.
