Well, Gmail sends your own mail back to you, nobody else does that. It also with all synchronisation off, will deliver to imap on the phone, but then move the mail to allmail if you download pop3 on another machine, none of my other isps does that either. Its a view, certainly, but logical it certainly is not at least to me.
This is why I have moved my mailing lists mostly to a virgin platform that works as I expect it to unless I tell it otherwise, but then we will probably agree to differ, since what you are used to depends on what you have used before, so to speak.

That is a problem with your specific provider. I almost never have messages arrive out of order with GMail and I've been using it for perhaps one-and-a-half years or perhaps two or more. Also, my previous e-mail provider didn't have this problem.

If you want not to have the problem I suggest using GMail for list mail or some other free provider.

I have no idea what you are talking about regarding GMail. If it was not satisfactory, I wouldn't use it.

Sometimes, and I know we have had this discussion here before, one finds email deliveries not exactly playing fair. IE sometimes you will scan the thread, see the replies and make yours, then about 15 minutes later, go back after a new mail indication and often several responses have come in and been placed ahead of what you posted.
I'm not going to blame specific ISPs here, but it does seem to be getting worst. Worse still is that a look at Imap and pop 3 can show discrepancies too, even though, Gmail excepted, they should not interact unless they are synchronised.
Gmail has a completely different way of working which defies logic. ahem.
