Thank you but I do not use Microsoft Word. I cannot purchase it and I do not want to use the pirated copy.

That has not been my experience, depending on what you mean by "reimporting".

I never import, in the conventional sense.  If I were worried about loss of formatting, then I'd cut from the MS-Word document I'd been working with, and paste it all back into the Google Doc.

The whole concept behind Google Docs is to make it essentially interchangeabe with the conventional Office programs as far as handling the same file types goes.  I've put tons of things (think all my tutorials) out there on Google Drive, having been created in Word, and you can open them using Google Docs without any loss of formatting that I've noticed.
