Re: Acrobat scan and Adobe acrobat - Accessibility of PC Desktop Apps as well as Mobile Versions
Ibrahim,
The number of tutorials on using Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Acrobat Reader on the PC platform with accessibility software, screen readers in particular, is myriad. There's no reason for me to reinvent the wheel here. A web search on either one of those two programs along with the name of the screen reader you wish to use with it will turn up days worth of reading. I'd expect the same thing for Adobe Scan, but to a lesser extent, at least when it comes to the PC platform. Web searching on the app names along with iOS in the case of an iPhone or Andriod in the case of Android phones coupled with either "Talkback" or "Android Accessibility Suite" should turn up what's available regarding the mobile apps for the specified platform. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 You are not entitled to your opinion. Looks like a decent machine to me. I've had a few Asus laptops, and had an issue with one where the sound card went out, but that is no reason to avoid an entire brand. Also, the lack of a headphone jack is not on every Asus laptop.
Thanks.

Thanks for that pice of information. I did post on this group about what you informed us about. My question now is: can you give some tutorial on how adobe acrobat and adobe scan are used on the PC, and mobile. I am an Android user. I have no idea on their use. I have both apps on my phone, and I have adobe acrobat on my PC. Regards. Ibrahim.

Re: Seeking Feedback Regarding Your Experiences With Asus and VivoBook Laptops
David,
While I understand "the itch," and have absolutely nothing against Asus laptops, were I you, I'd wait if you're happy with your current computer and Windows 10. It is almost certain that a number of features that are being introduced under Windows 11 will be back ported to Windows 10, much like the telemetry from Windows 10 was back ported to Windows 8.1 and 7. With the current shortage in computer chips, prices are higher than they have been in the past, and almost certainly higher than they will be for the same class of equipment once the pandemic is over. If you feel you really, really want or need a new machine now, or soon, that's a different story. But if you are truly happy with what you've got for now, and a year or two, then were I you I'd hold off. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 You are not entitled to your opinion. And that involves jettisoning a lot of things that were considered "standard" for years. The number of USB ports is shrinking, many don't have an HDMI port, optical CD/DVD drives have almost vanished from anything other than business class laptops, and they are disappearing even from those. One of the reasons I'm clinging to the laptop I have is because it has a CD/DVD drive. I still pick up CDs at thrift shops frequently that I want to digitize into my MP3 library. You just can't do that without an optical drive, and having to hook up an internal one every time you want to do so makes the process much more cumbersome than just "popping open the optical drive tray." Laptops as a class have been way more than "portable enough" for me for years. And I've never used any laptop "on the road" nearly as much as I do right here on my desk. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 You are not entitled to your opinion. I believe there are very cheap sound cards that are like adapters that you
can plug into a USB port and on the other end, plug in headphones or anything
with the compatible plug, I expect a one-eigth inch plug.
I think its absurd not to offer a standard analog
jack. But I believe there is an easy way around the problem.

Seeking Feedback Regarding Your Experiences With Asus and VivoBook Laptops
David Goldfield
The Microsoft store is offering a Black Friday deal selling this Asus VivoBook K513 laptop for $799.00 featuring a 1 terabyte SSD, 16 GB of RAM and an 11th-generation I7 processor and I have to confess it’s calling to me. I’m considering it as my current Dell Latitude laptop is fabulous but can’t officially run Windows 11 and I’d like the option to install that OS. This laptop seems to check all of the boxes I really want. It doesn’t have an ethernet port which I’m really spoiled by with my current laptop but an inexpensive hub would surely take care of that. The reviews for this Asus are generally favorable. Reviewers love the OLED screen which as a blind person doesn’t matter to me. I’d prefer something a tad smaller but so far I haven’t found any laptops with these specs for the price. I also acknowledge that I could just continue to use Windows 10 on my current laptop knowing full well that any modern laptop I could buy by 2025 would be even better than what I could buy today and so this purchase is hardly urgent. I’m just wondering if any of you have any experience with Asus, good or otherwise, and if you feel that this particular purchase at an $800.00 price is worth it or are there reasons for avoiding it that I’m not considering. Many thanks.

Re: Acrobat scan and Adobe acrobat - Accessibility of PC Desktop Apps as well as Mobile Versions
Adobe Acrobat on the PC is accessible and has been for years. It's also expensive (and I presume you're talking about Acrobat itself, not Acrobat Reader, which is also accessible but that's free).
I can't speak to Adobe Scan nor to any of the mobile app versions of either. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 You are not entitled to your opinion. You are entitled to your informed opinion. No one is entitled to be ignorant. ~ Harlan Ellison

As this would be entirely on-topic on the main group, and you actually started the same topic there, I am locking this one.
It is considered bad netiquette to crosspost or multipost the same question multiple places at the same time, even more so when those two places are part of the same Groups.io parent and subgroup structure. Keep an eye on your topic on the main NVDA Group. I suggest you have a look at 25 Forum Posting Etiquette Tips
These went online in 2007, which is an eon ago in the computer world, but remain relevant to this very day, and apply to emailing lists, too. The only tip that hasn’t stood the test of time is the recommendation to use plain text instead of HTML formatting, which has long since become the de facto standard. The tip I’d substitute for that one is this: Please, when you send a message asking for assistance and find the answer, don’t post something like, “It’s OK, I fixed it,” and leave it at that. It's rude to leave the readership hanging once you've determined a solution. If you were looking for how to fix it, later searchers will also be looking for that answer. Since you know how, add the, “and here’s how,” part afterward. Many will bless you, even though you won’t know they do. --Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 You are not entitled to your opinion. You are entitled to your informed opinion. Re: Sandbox Feature of Windows

I
thought I read that only the paid version of VM player provides total network
isolation for a guest which would provide for a sandbox. With the version
available a few years ago I recall both paid and unpaid version had this
ability.
Does anyone know if this is true
please?
Best wishes,
