Is this installed, or portable?
If it's not installed you're not going to have a desktop or start menu item unless you create them. I have never used the Atom text editor, or seen it under Windows,

True, although the Inspirons I've seen have the service bay doors. Which is good. This may not be true for all of them, so up to you I suppose. Ultimately though, I would not stop updating

There are often times where the same hardware will behave differently, and particularly built-in WiFi, due to things as simple as location.
