Hmmm programs crash because well bugs in them, maybe something else like a driver crashes. Maybe, its a virus, maybe it can be a lot of things. Even nvda does crash. Its sort of an open ended question.

I’ve never had a single programme run on a windows computer that never crashes. Even notepad has crashed on me once or twice. File explorer, an essential part of windows, sometimes crashes while I’m working on my external drives. Under the circumstances, I expect JAWS (and NVDA, too) to crash from time to time. The important question is, how to get it up and running again. I use Process Explorer’s restart process feature fairly regularly. Unfortunately that programme (a task manager alternative) does not work too well with NVDA.

JAWS has a command to dump it and restart it if it
crashes and becomes unresponsive and can't be shut down in the regular
way. Depending on how it is crashing, this command may or may not
work. I'll let others who know more about the command discuss it
more. But it is important to know. And you bringing up the topic may
generate some good discussion about the JAWS dump and restart command.
Also, I suspect the question was asked because JAWS
crashes far more often than expected on the person's machine. Will you,
the person who asked the question, confirm that and discuss when it
crashes? As stated, the question is so broad that it can't be answered in
a way that addresses your problem because programs can crash for so many
different reasons.

Yeah, the JAWS restart command is windows key + jaws key + f4. It works about half the time, for me. It’s also only in JAWS 2018 and above.
