Dear Farhan, Karen & List:

True, Open Book can scan a landscape page, however, trying to convert it to Portrait may mess up the format of the document. If it is columnar, part of your lines will be on the next line r next page. If newspaper columns, can be decolonized to fit Portrait format OK. If side by-side columns, will need to be on facing Portrait pages.

Normally, Open Book or Kurzweil will scan a landscape page as landscape.

Your Screen Reader can read it nicely in either format.

By default, anything you scan using Openbook or any competent scanning and recognition program orients the document automatically so that it is always being scanned as though it were correctly placed on the scanner.  You don't have to worry about the way the document is oriented as long as the paper is reasonably straight.
