My wife and I along with my dog take a daily walk on a nice asfault trail in a park just a mile from our home. The trail follows a creek bed and goes past the grave yard for the local Veterans home. There are walkers, runners and bickers on this trail. We always watch our backs for approaching runners and bikes. Both my wife and I heard the foot falls of a runner approaching from behind us. As the foot falls got louder and louder we moved over to the far right of the path so they could pass us easily. The foot falls went right on by us. Trouble was that it was just the foot fall sounds that passed and not a person in sight. My dog got real upset as well. |

Well I don't believe in ghosts but I know if the conditions are righht sounds travel a long way maybe because of air and if its windy enough and if its traveling in the right direction then you can get some really strange bouncebacks. I was traveling in my car with the family a couple days ago and swore I heard a dog behind me or in front of me, could have come from anywhere but was told there wasn't so yeah sound reflection I guess. To get the real sound reflection deal, go walk with a raincoat during a thunder and lightning storm and stand in the middle of the road or as close as is safe turn side on as you normally do when walking straight and again when crossing the road and you get that, bounce back from each side in stereo. I was walking back and got caught out in such a storm. And I was like, oh man I am in a storm, then wow, ok, I didn't know that you could get a stereo effect out here. You can't get thhe exact effect inside but yeah I was in the right place and got this stereo effect like that. Not recommending people stand outside in a lightning storm but if you ever get the chance to experience it or capture the effect yourself and have it all setup, thhen you will get a surround stereo effect as the sound roles off the buildings. The initial effect is usually in the centre depending how close it is or it can come from either side depending how close to that side you are. Then you get it all round but you will hear distinct stereo echos from each side so yeah there is that. Just remember that lightning is quite dangerous on its own though.
