remove blank lines from word document

Don H

Anyone know a simple way to take all the blank lines out of a word document? The document is 1000 pages long.
Thanks

or, for another close variation on that theme, the section entitled, Remove all empty lines with the Find and Replace option, on this page: https://www.extendoffice.com/documents/word/641-word-remove-empty-lines.html

or any one of the many tutorials returned by: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=using+MS-Word+find+and+replace+to+remove+blank+lines+from+a+document

I often find odd lines left behind. this seems to be due to the old invisible tab and space.
In my view, older versions of Word seemed better at this.

The Find and Replace functionality used to do this task has remained virtually unchanged, probably literally unchanged, for decades now.

I suspect rose-colored sentimentality here.  And, believe me, those of us who've been in this business a very long time all have that from time to time.  In the immortal lyrics of, The Way We Were, What's too painful to remember, we simply choose to forget!

Well maybe, but just trying Word XP, which I guess is 2002 on an older machine did seem to be faster and easier, but the caveat here is that this is also an older version of nvda before Word had the new API it has these days.
