That is like asking how long is a piece of string really, most of those who have had it and have had the full course of vaccination, it was between four and 6 weeks, but remember there are, at this time a lot of other infections around that also induce coughing. Also everyone is different. Those with any compromised immune systems, Asthma or COPD can be far more affected. If you are worried get a Chest X Ray looking for fluid or other issues in the lungs and windpipe. I lost my voice for a week with just what appears to have been a virus other than Covid.

Hi, Brian,
Yes, there are other infections that can cause one to cough. I not only have asthma but from time to time I get sinus infedtions and that causes me to caugh. Right now I’m fighting a nasty cold.

I would also say that you have to be positive that you actually have Covid involved. My partner and I were (and now are again) vaccinated up to the very latest vaccine, but in the spring when BA.4 and BA.5 started making their very rapid and infectious rounds, they were variants that could still get around the vaccines and cause infection. For both of us, getting Covid was a less than a week long affair start to finish.
We both had horrible spring colds prior to our spring Covid bout, and those were far worse than the Covid. Over Thanksgiving we both came down with something that was making the rounds here that had us in bed for 3 to 4 days, the fatigue was crushing, followed by about 5 to 6 weeks of a combination head and chest cold. We tested, and that wasn't Covid. Then, of course, it's entirely possible to have Covid (or any viral infection) in combination with others at the same time. -- Brian - Virginia, USA - Windows 11 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 22H2, Build 22621; Office 2016, Version 16.0.15726.20188, 32-bit; Android 12 (MIUI 13) Journalism 101: If someone says it’s raining and another person says it’s dry, it’s not your job to quote them both.
