Dropbox preferences
Brian's Mail list account
Rather than ask on the main list, I thought I'd bring this here, Some time ago I raised a ticket for these all being blank this includes prefs, log in share and other parts of the application.
I use Windows 7 and when I broached this on the main list last only two people seemed to have the issue apart from myself, so one has to deduce that it has to be a windows issue, ie something has mangled a dll or registration thereof. However the tool does not fix his. Nobody in the Dev team can duplicate it either. I have a working theory that this all started due to ccleaner installing avast very stealthily. Yes you can remove the software, but it seems possible that doing this which has to be done in safe mode by a sighted person has not left windows as it should be. Dropbox did try to help but none of their suggestions worked. reinstall, winding the computer back or sending them some data. All looked well and Is OK for the sighted of course! I'd like to get to the bottom of this of course but its not mega important, as I can get a sightee to help but its a chore. So I'll leave it hanging. All ideas considered except reformatting and reinstalling windows or putting windows 10 on this machine. It has to run legacy copies of the Access database and other old software and I don' to want to lose that. Brian bglists@... Sent via blueyonder. Have you tried running SFC /SCANNOW from an admin command prompt on the machine? Worth a shot if you haven't

Can you reformat the system? This is a brute force wa of doing this, but it seems like now you are the onlyone having the issue as they did fix the blank windows in dropbox. Yes did that and had to reinstall my email software after doing it but it made no difference whatsoever to the issue.

Its irritating when these sort of problems occur. On the surface since it only affects one piece of software that should point a big flashing arrow at the problem. Scratching head....! This is the nvda/f1, but its pretty boring. I already covered this and why I don't want to. This is the one thinning I'm not prepared to do it would be far too time costly with all the many batch files and folder configurations and modified parameters I'd need to remember and the fact that I use it all the time for content for our talking newspaper. Two windows 7 machines are involved both have the problem and both once 'caught Avast Anti Virus, Mainly due to some sighted users not realising its implications for the blind user.
