NVDA discord verification

David Mehler

Hello,

Trying to join a discord group. I'm using the latest NVDA and Chrome.
I'm stuck on the birthday verification screen. I either enter enter
numeric or select month, day, year, and hit done and it won't let me
go forward, no errors just nothing stuck on the same screen. Any
ideas?

Thanks.
Dave.

I've had trouble with discord verifications too, though I've never seen taht particular screen you mentioned. Thankfully only one of the servers I've tried to join had such a thing in place. I never did solve the problem. Maybe try using a phone app instead and see how that goes. I mean, just to get into the server. tons

Is this a page where you enter the numbers or do you have to arrow down to the month and select it first?  Also, is there a done button you must press before you can continue?

Try jumping to the bottom of the page to see if a CAPTCHA has appeared and is not being focused automatically.

Hello,

Thanks. I believe it's an arrow down and select the right items. I've
tried entering numbers, i've tried arrowing, neither works. There is a
done button, there was a captcha previous screen that I got around.

Thanks.
Dave.

Hello,

Any ideas on my discord issue? Is there anyone I can contact regarding
discord accessibility?

Suggestions welcome.

Thanks.
Dave.

The Discord "Submit a Report" page is:  https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Bug reports can be made there.

There is also a Windows app for Discord that can be downloaded when you land on the main page of discord.com.  That may be more accessible than the web version, though I'd submit a bug report no matter what.

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year-old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged.  One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

I’ve always had the Discord programme installed on myW indows box, and still have verification problems. I never submitteda  report because after deciding I didn’t really need to be on that server anyway, I forgot about the issue(s) till now and this thread. It’s worth doing though. Discord team really does seem to give a damn about accessibility concenrs.

I find this interesting because one of our regulars, Sarah Alawami, is a "big Discorder."  I don't recall her having mentioned accessibility issues, though since so many get mentioned over time it could just be that I've forgotten about it.

Regardless of whether we're talking Discord, or something else, if you want accessibility issues to be fixed, they've got to be reported to those who can fix them.

Yeah, I posted aboutm y problem during the summertime I think, but I ended up abandoning that server anyway. It’s the onlyone I’ve ever had sucha  problem on, but I couldn’t select the checkmark to agree to the terms and conditions of the server. I tried multiple approaches and screen-readers. I was even able to do it on my phone somehow, which allowed me into the server, but oddly it was only temporary, and soon I didn’t have access again.

I don’t recall having any verification issues, I have not had to verify my birthday, report the issues though and they will filter to us, I will not, cannot report for you.

Thanks, I'm sure someone on the accessibility team will see it. Appreciate it.
