Reset VoiceOver Braille Screen Input

Sascha Cowley

Hello all,

I've recently switched from Android to iOS, and almost everything is going well. I have one problem (and a number of annoyances), though: I have somehow messed up the dot positions of VO's Braille screen input function, and I cannot work out how to reset them.

To be clear, I know how to calibrate the dot positions, but this does not work, as VO is interpreting almost anywhere on the screen that I touch as being a dot 3, or, at the very least, a left-hand dot. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? I haven't been able to find anything searching online, and what with one thing and another, haven't been able to contact Apple about it directly yet.

Cheers,
Sascha

Sascha,

I'm going to be of no use here other than to make you aware of another group you might consider asking this on, if you are not already aware of it:

You might get a faster answer in that venue.

I have become aware that one thing that is needed in accessibility settings and in other places too, is reset this to factory defaults for each option. Some do this but many do note causing me much head scratching.

Could this be the "Reverse dot positions" option, under Settings -> Accessibility -> VoiceOver -> Braille -> Braille screen input?

As an aside, Apple's accessibility department is pretty responsive by email (accessibility@...). They will usually get back to you the next day, although if it's a bug report they can drag a bit more as they try to replicate it.

I had not changed this, but as part of my troubleshooting before I sent this message, tried toggling that to see if it made a difference, but alas no luck.

Thanks for this, I'll give them a try.

Thanks Brian, I'll give that list a go too.

That would be nice. I often brake stuff without being aware as sometimes I'm a frustrated button masher, and I have no idea how I fixed x y or z or how x y or z broke lol! Happy Friday all.
