Re: NVDA and excel locking up and freezing
Thanks, Brian,
Even Narrator does not come on.
If I leave the computer for more than 15 minutes I find that it is active again.
Yesterday, when this happened, after returning from the 15 minutes waiting time and the Excel program was active again, I made the mistake of opening the cell where the three text words were entered and the whole system locked up again as soon as I pressed return to close the cell.
All the best,

When excel freezes this way, NVDA is totally locked up as well. I have no function for about 10 or 15 minutes, until Excel has finished whatever madness it is going through, and releases the operating system.

Are you saying the computer, as a whole, freezes?
If so, there's probably going to have to be some digging into logs, and I don't mean just NVDA logs, to determine what's happening to cause the entire system to lock up.
If, as Gene says, you are able to go to the desktop (or even if you can't, and the machine itself is not frozen), try invoking Narrator via the keyboard shortcut and taking a look at Task Manager (or its equivalent, if you're using another utility) to see if you can determine what is causing that "battle to the death" during the time it's in progress.
