Re: Using NVDA with Chat-GPT

To find the response, you have to go back above the edit box for input.  Chat GPT appears to put the response text here, and there is some separation between replies if, for example, you aske it to refine a previous response.  I'd like that to be separated by headers or landmarks, but it wasn't when I had a go last week.

For some reason, I can't get past the initial verification screen using Edge so I can't try the site with it.

I just tried tabbing to the edit field using NVDA default settings.  When I tabbed into the edit field, I was automatically switched to focus mode when using the Brave browser.  I haven't signed in on Edge.  I may try it.  But we now know that the edit field is a standard one and works as expected unless there is a problem.

I doubt Edge is the problem, both Edge and Brave are Chrome-based browsers.  but if my method of solving the problem doesn't work, which I gave in my last message, you may want to try another browser.

It isn't clear to me what the problem is.  When you are in the edit field, use the command NVDA key space and see if you can write.  If you can, that means you are not automatically being switched to focus mode on the page.  If that is the problem, after you type something, if you can read what you've typed press enter to send it to the bot.  Then manually switch back to browse mode using the same command, if you aren't automatically switched after a moment.

If this solves the problem, it is another demonstration of my contention that it is better to manually switch modes rather than have NVDA set to do so and have it do so automatically.

I used Microsoft Edge. Pratically I went to the site of ChatGPT and with TAB I can go in the space where write the question. But NVDA don't say to me that Chat GPT are writing something. Using TAB I can't go in the part of the page where he writes the messages.
How can I hear what it write?
