Re: outlook express question

I haven't used JAWS or Outlook express for
years. Perhaps JAWS does announce this and I don't recall. As you
say, NVDA doesn't and NVDA isn't user definable in ways that you can change this
behavior. It would require something like a command in a script to cause
this behavior.

Jaws does I wonder if that is a function of the scripts. It did work when I tried the command a second time.

I've never seen Outlook Express announce the number of unread messages with any screen-reader just by moving from folder to folder. I don't know if the status line tells you the information when you stop at a folder or if you need to move to the message list. that means that I don't know if a screen-reader could be made to announce the information automatically when you move from one folder to the next.

In other words if I’m on the folder for example Nvda 2 unread or something like that. From: nvda@nvda.groups.io [mailto:nvda@nvda.groups.io] On Behalf

I've never seen such information spoken when using Outlook Express without reading the status line.

Use read status line. You don't have to be in the folders list. You can be in the message list as I recall. I haven't used Outlook Express for many years but as I recall, you will hear how many messages are in the list and how many are read and unread. But if my memory is not quite correct, you will still hear what you want, that is the number of unread messages. Read status line in NVDA is NVDA key end. That is for the desktop layout. I don't know the laptop layout command.

Hi, when using NVDA if you tab to your folders NVDA doesn’t say NVDA 5 unread messages is there any way to get it to automatically speak this info??
