Do you mean download with Firefox instead of
Chrome? It sounds as though the progress bar isn't accessible in
Chrome. How much does it matter? If it's a long download, checking
off and on should give you a pretty good idea of whether it is getting near the
end. In addition, to hear progress bars when downloading, you have to
leave the computer in the download window which means that you can't use the
computer while the download is in progress. It seems more trouble than
it's worth.
