On my machine for some of these unremovable files it says something like the remainder of the files will be remove on the next reboot.
I'm assuming this is because they are stuck as in use until then.

The folders named like "Windows.old" must be deleted through Windows disk
clean up.
1. Start disk clean up by "local disk c:" properties.
2. Wait for creation the liste of the deletable files, and pres alt+s.
3. Wait for list again.
4. check list items You want to clean. (I always check all items.) for
Windows.old folders, check "old Windows installation files".
5. pres "ok", "delete files", and "yes" buttons.
6. wait for cleaning.

Gene's a good mate. Interesting that this would come up. One of my clients
has a system that I'm working on with the very same problem; however, I'm
not sure of the procedures to remove the old files, and recover and preserve
those that are useful.

I want to make sure I don't damage any of the necessary files that run the
current setup.
