Re: Windows 7 shuts down when starting NVDA

It could be that it restarts to remove files, but I've yet to find an inti virus that is so anti user that it does not tell the user what its doing and why.

Many computers for companies simply do not allow any installation except by the admins through an agreed system, but as I said, normally big warnings come up about his if you try, not a restart of the machine after all if it was a malware program its too late by then!

Hmmm well firstly is nvda being thought as a virus.

Failing that are you sure you have access ie has nvda been allowed the right permitions, if its doing this on your own laptop, I'd think something was screwing about.

I had this on a couple desktops.

In one case the graphis card was mangled and needed replacing.

On the other, there was a faulty fan.

In both cases the shop we took it to did a reformat after replacing the various hardware cards and such which fixed the problem.

Something is clearly conflicting.

However since this a company unit and not your own, while a reformat will fix it and make it work its not your problem.

Its your it guy's issue thats what they are payed for ask your admin and see what they say it may be they need to do something themselves.

Just installed NVDA this morning on my laptop running Windows 7 Pro SP1. After installation, my laptop shut down without warning. It started back up fine, but when I started NVDA, the laptop shut down again without any error or warning. When installing, I unchecked the 'start NVDA on Windows startup' setting. Also possibly related, this is a company laptop running Sophos security/auth software.

I didn't see a way to attach files, so the contents of the log files are below.
