Re: NVDA Causes Open Office to stop Responding

Hi, I just got here and thanks for letting me in.

Is Open Office and Libra Office the same thing? Some years ago, I tried to use open office and had no success. Just now I installed Libra Office on my XP machine and it seems to work ok with JAWS. Having problems with ms office so was thinking of using Libra Office on my win10 machine with NVDA. Anyone had experience with that? Thanks.

Howard

I don't think so actually. I know plenty of sighted people using Open Office and Libra Office with no issues

My feeling on this is that its getting very complicated to hook into processes that are both part of windows and may also be being used by applications. Those with long memories will remember display chain drivers in XP and earlier, where any piece of software that needed access to the screen output had to hook in through a piece of software loaded at boot time. The snag often was that some software did not do this well and the whole thing slowed down or fell over.
If you are screen scraping this video monitoring was often the only way to get at content for screenreaders. I can well recall that some upper end graphics cards used by gamers had non standard drivers and the display chain programs never worked right on them.
I suspect these days especially with ported programs like Open Office that there are similar issues due to the portability of some of the code to other operating systems.
Just my thoughts.

After installing NVDA Open Office stopped responding. I have a Dell
Inspiron running Windows 10. Also, I can no longer find NVDA on my
computer. I donated 15.00 two times and downloaded NVDA. Now it is gone.

What are the solutions?
