Re: fixing error message?

Maybe it is using the same dll to hook into the system and when its inactive it does not remove its hooks and nvda thus cannot cope??
Its really a question for somebody who knows the low level stuff of both screenreaders.
Might be worth reporting it to the Jaws and nvda relevent lists in case its easy to fix.

I uninstalled nvda, removed all freedom scientific products
I then re installed nvda, and jaws 18 and thus far it appears to be fixed.
at this point I am not going to touch jaws 2018
at least on windows7
I have no idea what was going on with it but from what I can determan jaws2018
seems to be the colprate
any idea why jaws 2018 breaks nvda?

I thought I read he was using Windows 7, and the error could be due to so many things of course. often rolling back only works till the offending update is reinstalled by whatever put it on before, so it will pay in the long run to attempt to pin it down I think.

Its unfortunate that so many people either turn off system restore or never check to make sure if its on. it's one thing if people have another way to revert the machine such as disk images or a program like Roll Back. But it's a bad idea not to have System Restore on if you aren't using any reversion program.

You said you registered the files but are you sure they are still there in the first place? Did you check to see if there is anything to register? In Windows 10, as I understand it, you can reload Windows and keep all your programs installed. I don't know anything about that option but I've seen discussions that it is available. My impression is that it places a clean version of
Windows on your machine but keeps everything from the old installation that is necessary to run your already installed programs including the old programs. Others who know more about all this may wish to comment. But I would strongly urge anyone who isn't using another reversion program to make sure system restore is on. I don't know how many times I've seen instances when System Restore would be likely or very likely to quickly solve a problem but it isn't available.

Another option may be System File Checker but I don't know enough about that option to discuss it. Perhaps someone else will.
