Firefox prompts you with the save or open dialogue as soon as you click the download but instead chrome immediately starts the download without a message. So from the chrome window where you just clicked download, you should be able to use F6 to scroll to the download bar at the bottom of the screen where you can find out the status of the download, open it, open it in the containing folder, or dismiss the notification.

Chrome, when you activate a download, you can either set Chrome  to do the
download  with or without prompting the user  to activate a save button.
This setting can be found in the Crome advanced settings

Is there anyway to get downloads to start automatically in GoogleChrome
using NVDA or JAWS?
Right now, after clicking on a file I want to download, I have to go into
the downloads folder and click on the appropriate link.
