Re: setting up winamp

We don't know what is meant by imprecise terms like couldn't get it to run or doesn't work.  We need descriptions of behavior.  Do you get an error message when you play a file?  How are you trying to play files, by pressing enter on the file name or from within the program itself?  It may just be that you haven't made it the default program for playing files and that, if you are pressing enter on a file, that it still plays in the program you were using before.

I don't know the procedure for making a program the default program in Windows 10.  You can't use the way that works in Winamp in earlier versions of Windows.  You must tell Windows directly to make Winamp the default player.  Others can tell you how to do this if you don't know.  But at this point, we don't know what, if anything, you've done in this respect nor do we know anything about the problem you are having.

That is silly. I used it on windows 10 with no issues.
The only issue is that file associations need often to be Manually tweaked
due to the way win 10 tries to protect the  default ones.

I tried installing winamp from that site but I still couldn't get it to run.
I guess I'll just stick to windows media player.

I know that there has been lots of responses already but  I too have often
had difficulties installing various versions of Winamp.

There are  lots of versions out there and not all work well on Windows 10 at
least.

Some version when installed  will not open mp3 files properly from File
Explorer despite association and other weird issues Like freezing during the
startup wizard when you select skins etc.

Generally I have learnt to only use the version of that can be downloaded
from www.nimite.com <http://www.nimite.com>

Essentially what I would do  is in-install the version of Winamp sshe is
using and download the version from Nimite.

No guarantees  of course but this is the way I have overcome Winamp
difficulties  of this sort in the past.

Hi, everyone,

I was talking to a friend of mine earlier this morning and she said she's

having trouble setting up winamp. She tried uninstalling and reinstalling it

but some of her files won't play. Are there boxes she needs to check or

uncheck?

Thanks so much for your help in advance.
