Okay, apparently I do have them linked but had to do a manual sync. The only thing I am not getting at the moment is getting win calendar to sync everything over to Outlook (just went back to outlook and it now seems like crashing is only limited to viewing the Today window. As long as I only use other folders I can have many open and switch between them and cntrl+y to move to different folders).

its called calendar

You need to go to apps and accounts, link your ms and your google accounts to it to fully use it then you can use that as a sort of shell.
