Re: Win 10 mail app and forcing it to use Edge?

The Gamages

Hello Rosemarie and others who answered my message,

I see that Narrator can be used to access my files etc, but what I can't
do is get to the edit area of Word for instance, I just go round in
circles, from the title and then to the system controls, I know about
scan mode but this doesn't help at all, without scan mode I just get the
key I press read out, it just doesn't work like a normal screen reader,
NVDA for instance, will land me on the edit area in Word immediately and
I get to other stuff if I choose to do so. Narrator is alright for
emergencies, can anyone tell me how to get to the edit area in Word so
that I can type into it? or even read it? after all Word is a microsoft
product, so it should work well.
Simple instructions would be much appreciated.
Thank you all.

Best Regards, Jim.

Hi, Jim,

I think narrator is great when you get into a jam or if you don't have a
screen reader, you can use narrator to install a screen reader like

Brian's comment about Narrator is relevant to this thread, has anyone
tried narrator lately? it's a nightmare as far as I am concerned, I just
go round and round in circles, long may NVDA continue to prosper.
Incedentally, Freedom scientific are proposing doing away with 40 minute
mode for Jaws, in favour of a 30 day trial, after which you will need to
pay for the program, I heard that on one of their Webinars, or whatever
they call them, when Eric Damery was talking to Jonathon Mosen, Sorry
for the off topic comment, but I know many people use Jaws in 40 minute
mode as an extra reference source.

Best Regards, Jim.

Probably, ofcause there will be ways round it, I will for example never
use their email program as long as thunderbird continues to be fine with
its esr version till its not.

So is this more nanny mode assuming people are not able to protect
themselves, or an attempt to get Edge to be the logical choice for
home users.
Can you imagine what might happen if they suddenly decided anyone
using a screenreader would have to use Narrator and turned the others

Weird if true.
