Regarding your query about eSpeak NG, a lot of fixes for issues have been made in the development version of eSpeak NG. Those changes have not been merged into NVDA yet.

As to why eSpeak NG? The original eSpeak is no longer been developed, so will not have any bug fixes, stability/security fixes, pronunciation fixes, new features or languages. All of that is what eSpeak NG provides, including new features like emoji support.

Will it be bug free? No. Will pronunciations never regress? No. Will bugs and pronunciation regressions be addressed? Yes.

Saying "the pronunciations are worse than before" is not helpful. It is like saying "the new toaster does not work". Note that the current development version of eSpeak NG fixes pronunciation of things like "newsletter" that you raised on the eSpeak NG group.

Be aware that some specific feature requests/improvements are more complicated than others due to the complexity of the eSpeak codebase.
