I use that search feature a lot also. Before the last update, when I type
something it only speaks the first letter instead of all of what I type. It
used to be allright but one day this odd behavior took over the search box.
What am I to do?

I was thinking of that last night. Outlook has a search feature where you
type in what you're looking for. I used that feature last night and found
what I was looking for.

Normally a reset of the account downloads loads of the emails again, but
the problem is if you have any stored offline and they are no longer on the
server they are gone for ever.

If it's an IMAP or Microsoft Exchange account, you can probably just
delete your *.ost files. Mine are found in the user profile folder,
under AppData\local\Microsoft\Outlook. You need to close Outlook
before deleting the files.

When you start Outlook again, it will retrieve the messages from the
server and recreate those files.

Take the machine back to when you saw them last? However I'm not
optimistic.

I seem to remember this sort of thing happening in older Outlooks back
when I tried to use it.
Its normally some corruption in the indexing in Outlook. Maybe there
is an answer on the Microsoft Office forum?
