You can also press f6 and Press Down arrow to find enable editing.
This is the best way to keep your PC from getting viruses.

I don't think so. Even Protected View worked for me in NVDA when I last tried it. At least one other screen reader (JAWS) requires protected view to be turned off - easily done in Preferences.

Just be aware that if you have any problems with this, for example reading Microsoft Word files received as attachments that are opened in Protected View, you may have to adjust your settings.
