My first experience with a screen reader and a synthesizer was with the apple 2 c running dos 3.3 and using textalker screenreader with an echo synthesizer. The echo synth was fast enough at the time. The next computer was a x t clone with 570 k ram and 40 megibite hard drive using an old speech master board with some scripts to read things on the screen. Clunky and slow. It was using dos. Next windows 95 came along and I used webspeak in it for a while along with tinytalk and seekline in dos with nettamer. Things got better with an old accent p c i s a synth I was given and started using provox in dos.
