... How even ... I checked the Rate boost box with rate at 30%and everything started talking so fast I could barely make out the words. I don't think I could ever,
ever read and comprehend a document at that pace. How does Jamie do it...?

important or academic notes at 30% with rate boost enabled, but can go

I first heard ESpeak's Max variant voice close to three years ago, and
began using it and NVDA full time almost two years ago, and my above
speech settings have been going on since a year perhaps. I hope to
build my listening speed too to compete with Jamie and others at some
point in time in the future, as Jamie uses ESpeak's Max at 55% with
rate boost enabled always, as I am informed through some of his public
interviews/podcasts. :D grin
Back to the topic though, I have found not even the subtlest of
annoyances with ESpeak NG, perhaps I find it a tad bit more
responsive, could be a misconception though, as ESpeak already was

My first experience with a screen reader and a synthesizer was with
the apple 2 c running dos 3.3 and using textalker screenreader with an
echo synthesizer. The echo synth was fast enough at the time. The next
computer was a x t clone with 570 k ram and 40 megibite hard drive using
an old speech master board with some scripts to read things on the
screen. Clunky and slow. It was using dos. Next windows 95 came along
and I used webspeak in it for a while along with tinytalk and seekline
in dos with nettamer. Things got better with an old accent p c i s a
synth I was given and started using provox in dos.

I can maybe understand nvda reading at 85 or 90 don't mean I wish to
read that fast. I normally keep it in the 70 to 75 range. ESpeak
sounds horrible to me.

ok, I hear the anoying sound with rate set to 100%. It goes away
to 99% and below. Again the anoying sound starts with rate boost box
checked at 19% and goes away at 18% and below. The anoying sound is
there all the way up from it's starting point at 19% with rate boost box
checked, well atleast up to 70%. I am not sure abuv 70% with check box
checked, I can't process beyond that point. It sounds like it's still
there. I am stuck using nvda with espeak set to about 40% with rate
boost checked now. I feal like my computer is running on malassis.
The nvda settings are default except for the rate boost and the rate

I'd suggest the same thing I suggested before. That is, file an issue

Please describe the error in detail, as I use the same version of
eSpeak (with occassionally the English voice) with rate set to 30 or
40 with rate boost and I find no problems. Or perhaps I missunderstood
you, and you use different parameteres.

I all ways used the default nvda max english voice, I am
disappointed in the changes made to espeak in nvda I think starting
with nvda 2015 or may be as far back as 2014. Were the changes made
to espeak by nvda devel or the creator of espeak. I would like a
choice in nvda setup to be able to pick witch espeak to install. I
feal the need for speed quite freequently and to have that fluttering
sound in there when the check box for rate boost is checked so I can
get up to a 600 to 800 words per min is disruptive. I am still
trying to get used to it.
