I am using the laptop layout with the caps lock as the NVDA key.

When I press NVDA plus control plus left/right arrow keys within NVDA input

help mode it says that the review cursor will move to the next or previous
word/object. Using the NVDA and control keys with up and down arrows just
echoes the keys that have been pressed. While still in input mode, adding
the shift key to the NVDA control and arrow keys describes changes to the
synth ring-whatever that is LOL. Does this help?

Janet, this is just a suggestion, but I'm wondering if it might not be
more helpful--& more accurate--to simply access the NVDA menu, go to
help, then go to the "command quick reference guide". There, you can
find the keys, both for desktops & laptops, that will perform any
command NVDA has. This should contain the most up-to-date & accurate
information.

I think what Joseph is trying to tell you here is that the command you
tried to use is inaccurate--for the desktop, it's NVDA+ctrl+up or
down, w/the laptop you add the shift key.

Huh? Where did you see that Control+NVDA+left and right arrow keys are
used
to change rate on the fly?

To others: there is a specific reason why I’m doing it like this (will
explain soon).

I am using Windows 10 with the latest NVDA. When I try to change speech
rate
on the fly using the NVDA control and either the left or right arrow keys
the rate does not change and NVDA says nothing. Has this command changed?

so, what is it now?
