Fast forward / rewind in iTunes

I've had an enquiry from someone using Windows 10 64-bit, who advised that using control+alt+left and right arrows to rewind or fast forward tracks is not working like it should. Has anyone else experienced this, or have any ideas of what could be happening? I'm not sure what version of iTunes they are using, but would I be right in encouraging them to be sure they are on the latest version? Quentin.
