Re: Windows key plus M suddenly stopped working

This is incorrect.
Windows + M and Windows + D do the same thing.  Both minimize all windows and put focus on the desktop.  Only difference is that when Windows + D is repeated, focus is returned to the window that was in focus before executing the command the first time.

Windows m moves you to the desktop and minimizes all windows.
Windows d takes you to the desktop but doesn't minimize anything.  I hadn't thought about this before, but the mnemonics make sense.  Windows m for minimize, and Windows d for desktop.

Windows+M will minimize all the windows? Really?
I've always had the Windows+M as a way to access the desktop easily. Anyone can confirm this?

Windows + letter M is a windows command. It will minimize all windows that are open in front of you to the task bar.

Use the Windows key + letter D to jump to the desk top.

In some cases you might have to do it 2 times but in most cases only the once from any where on the desktop, task bar etc.
