Is thereany way to export bookmarks to an html file in Firefox?

Yes.

1. Hit CTRL+SHIFT+B to bring up the Bookmarks Manager
2. Hit ALT+I,E, a few seconds after which an Export Bookmarks to a File dialog appears allowing you to name the file, if you want other than bookmarks.html, and to navigate to wherever you wish to save it.

This method exports all your bookmarks, with their folder hierarchy preserved, for backup or import into another web browser.
