It would be most helpful to know the make and model of the keyboard.
That being said, most external keyboards are of the "desktop layout" in format (with some foldable Bluetooth ones being notable exceptions) and have dedicated arrow, home, end, page up/down, and other buttons such that multi-key presses using modifiers are unnecessary. That's one of the big reasons people buy and use them when their laptop isn't being used while literally on the road or in the air.
