I would recommend using a true text editor when working with Python  code. Notepad++ works fairly well. I have also heard good things about visual studio.

If you are throwing commands at python interpreter, the NVDA console could be used but there are several advantages to using an independent editor that also understands Python syntax.

Which version of pycharm is accessible with nvda? I don't get sound feedback during writing code despite type word and character is on. Nvda doesn't read anything of menu bar.
