Gene, some sites if you visit them with IE. You are told that this site is not supported. So I go to it using Chrome or edge and it does work.

The new Microsoft browser that will replace the current Edge is based on Chrome, the open source version.  That is also what the Google Chrome browser is based on.  I suspect that if one Chrome-based browser has problems with a web page or doesn't do something well on it, the other one will have the same or similar problems.  Therefore, I would urge you to place Firefox on the machine.  You may want to use it as your secondary browser, for sites that don't work well with Chrome.  Internet Explorer is going to be retired.  I don't know when, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is retired within between one and two years.  And it is very old technologically.  It hasn't received anything but security updates for years.

In short, you are probably using two browsers that will respond very similarly on web pages and Internet Explorer will be retired and is already not working well on some web pages because it is so technologically archaic.

Oh my, If you don’t update your system. You are asking for trouble!  As for firefox, I never installed it on my new system.  I have 3 browsers.  That’s good enough.  On my old windows 7 Firefox often crashed.  I don’t know if it was just the computer itself.  It would not let me update firefox.  After my 7 box died. I never did install it on this new system.  I use IE or Chrome. I am trying Microsoft Edge. Should IE quit working.

By God,

were I given all the seven heavens

with all they contain

in order that

I may disobey God

by depriving an ant

from the husk of a grain of barley,

I would not do it.
