Even if that is the default behavior, I don't want
to assume that no odd circcumstance might arise where NVDA loads the
synthesizer, but I still get no speech, for some reason. I think it is a
good idea to have another synthesizer set as the one that comes up when the
program runs, just in case. While it may be very unlikely, NVDA can see a
synthesizer as running and, if it isn't working properly but still running, you
won't have speech.

voice be set as the default by being set and then saving the user configuration
with control NVDA key c, unless a different voice
is already the one that comes up when the program runs.
