Thanks Pranav,
It is surprisingly different, isn’t it? I wonder why that is?

Hi Cearbhall,
I have been thinking that you were talking about word 2016. In Outlook 2016, I can duplicate your problem.

Hi Joseph,
The issue is simply that NVDA does not speak the erroneous word in the spell checker in Outlook 2016. The rest of the dialog is read out. Also the proposed correction is read out in both focus mode and review mode.
The only time that NVDA seems to be able to speak the erroneous word is within the flow of text from NVDA+b.
I am sorry to hear that this is a known problem since everyone else today has been insisting that it is not a problem! I can confirm that it is definitely a problem on my system.
What a pity!
All the best,
Cearbhall

Hi all, Let’s see what’s up… If I heard you right, you are saying that object nav doesn’t work, and that when you press F7 from Word 2016, NvDA does not announce misspelled word and so on? If the latter, then this is a known problem, and it’ll be quite tricky to fix. Cheers, Joseph

Gene,
May I refer you to my earlier message in which I stated, very clearly, that I had experimented with all the review modes? I also stated the results of that experience.

Are you using object navigation or flat review? I think it's called screen review in newer versions of NVDA. Use object navigation. Move using numpad insert 4 to go baqck and nunmpad insert 6 to go forward.
there are times when object navigation sees things that screen review won't. This appears likely to be one such time.

Quentin,
The keystroke NVDA+b is the only tool that gives me the erroneous field.
It starts at the top of the dialog and, when it comes to “Not found in dictionary” if repeats this twice followed by “alt plus” and then repeats “not found in dictionary” once more followed by the erroneous text and then continues on to read to the bottom of the dialog.
This is the only time when the erroneous word is spoken. It is not available when I use the numpad to review the text even though NVDA+b has spoken it. Yet, the offered correction is available in all modes of review.
Any ideas?
All the best,
Cearbhall

Use the review cursor to read the previous text to get the misspelled word, and you can also read forward further down the pane to get the dictionary meaning of replacement words.
To read the context of the spelling error, the best option is to press escape to go back to the document, read the line / sentence / etc, and press F7 to go back to spell check again (or F6 to move back to the pane).
Here's the section of the User Guide on the review cursor: http://www.nvaccess.org/files/nvda/documentation/userGuide.html?#ReviewingText
I'm almost finished writing the Word for NVDA course and included a topic on several methods for using the spell check, including activities. The Word course isn't available yet although the basic training for NVDA course is which covers the review cursor etc - see: http://www.nvaccess.org/shop/
Regards
Quentin.
