is nvda speaking at all or loaded? If nvda is not on use the alt key + ctrl key + the letter N to start up nvda. If it starts then stops talking try the windows key and up arrow key etc to see if it keeps on talking? I am wondering when it went to update and downloaded did it say it was ready to install? If so when you go to install it or upgrade it a UAC screen might come up which you will have to say yes to or use alt key + y and at the end it should start up again. If it did not get pass the UAC screen it might not have upgraded. The other possibility is after it down loaded some how the file might of got corrupted and but did you say it went to install but was slow? Trying to work out where you are in the process. If you have the latest update from nvaccess you could also install it over the top of the other one and could use narrator to do that. Then after it has been done turn off narrator. Gene nz .
