Pressing F8 should take you back to the document. There is a close button in the character panel, but it seems only to be accessible with the mouse; I couldn't find it with NVDA using the navigator.

This is one of the issues I have with Notepad++: while much of it is accessible, many of the keyboard shortcuts are completely non-standard.

I went into the edit menu and I wanted to enter some accented characters into a text file so I brought up the character panel, found the character I wanted and pressing enter puts that character into the file. But now when I run notepad++ the character panel keeps coming up and I can’t find a way to close it. So how do I close the character panel?
