At any rate, to follow up w/this, John has given me permission to
assist him w/administering his site from time to time. I say that so
folks don't think I just busted into it.

John, you should install the classic editor as opposed to the
Gutenberg editor. Just go to 'Plugins > Add new' & search for classic
editor. Then install & activate it as usual.

Might I also suggest you update your site, as you've got quite a few
pending. Whenever you're having problems w/NVDA, it's a really good
idea to first ensure that all updates have been performed in the area
where you're having difficulties, in this case your WordPress site. I
think those steps should solve your difficulties.
