Two important things:
StationPlaylist add-on 20.08 is now available. This version mainly includes optimizations and localization updates.
Note: if you are using Studio 5.20, you will get a notification after installing add-on 20.08, telling you that the next long-term support (LTS) version will be the last release series to support Studio 5.20. That release series is 20.09.x and it will show up in September.
Moving onto Windows 10 App Essentials, a few announcements:
In addition to delaying version 20.08 release (until next week) due to a showstopper bug in upcoming Windows 10 Version 20H2 (beta at the moment), the upcoming release will include significant changes to modern keyboard support (emoji panel, clipboard history, dictation, hardware keyboard suggestions, and many others). For many of you, you won’t notice changes, but programmers may notice significant changes regarding how events from modern keyboard interface are tracked. Also, a more efficient way to detect appearance/disappearance of modern keyboard interface (emoji panel, for example) was found, which results in making the code behind this feature more stable and simple. These changes are indeed destined for a future NVDA release.
Also, another important thing to remember: Windows 10 App Essentials 20.08 will require NVDA 2020.1 or later (due to add-on support policy), and if the showstopper bug from 20H2 is fixed, it will be the first version to support the upcoming Windows 10 feature update.
Enjoy the new add-on releases.
