Re: HIMS Syncbraille Display and NVDA on Desktop PC

This is very odd.

I did just as you suggested, but still no cigar.

It still does not see the display.

Its confounding me since narrator sees them right away and I get Braille.

I thought the external drivers were no longer needed back in 2018.

Thanks,

If you cannot see the HIMS driver on your NVDA installation, the HIMS drivers have not been properly or completely installed. Try installing again and run the file as admin. There are two installations that take place so do see them through to the end.

Keep in mind that the drivers are for USB, and that bluetooth does not require the drivers. You would instead need to pair the device under Bluetooth.

Hello.

I got a weird issue.

I have managed to hook up and utilize a HIMS Syncbraille display with NVDA on my laptop, and even a few tablets using NVDA 2020.3. But it will not run on my desktop pc.

I installed the drivers recommended on the user guide of NVDA, but nothing is happening.

I don't see specific display drivers listed in Braille settings for HIMS any longer as in prior versions of NVDA. So I have selected automatic. This works with the laptop etc. But nothing on the PC.  Odd thing is that I can get the native windows screen reader to see it and work with it on it.

Thanks for any help.
