question have already been sent to my account using Outlook. I have
since switched most of my emails to the account I'm posting from now,
where I am currently, and have always, used the Gmail web interface.

what happens. Also, you could try using another e-mail program and see what
happens. Firefox has a setting to use simple HTML. That setting allows
messages to use HTML for such things as formatting, but doesn't allow
anything to run or any HTML to do anything in a message except that which
displays formatting and which allows you to follow links.
