Hi,

As far as I can tell, NvDA doesn’t select a specific key as modifier key whenever you change keyboard layouts. It might have done that way in the past, but when the last big change to laptop keyboard layout took place (2013), the current behavior was in use then (unfortunately the bulk of user discussions on that change cannot be found easily unless someone archived it from Freelists).

Joseph, thanks for the correction.   Has it always been this way?  I could have sworn that both NVDA and JAWS used to do this, but I could very easily be conflating JAWS and NVDA in this regard.

It is nice that those checkboxes in the NVDA Keyboard settings allow you to mix and match as you see fit.
