That shouldn't be happening.  What is the speech synthesizer that you are using?

Also, what are your NVDA language and Windows language set to?

In some places, I believe ten thousand is written numerically as:

10.000

While in others it is written:

10,000

Do either of those, the one with the period as thousands separator, or the one with the comma as thousands separator, speak correctly for you?
