Just FYI, my first acquaintance with this utility was via a recommendation on one of the screen reader or other blind-centric technology lists.

And doing a bulk file conversion to a different file format, which changes the extension on the files so converted as part of that, is just fine.  That's completely different than just renaming something and giving it a file extension that is not consistent with the actual file format.
