Hi, As far as I know, when you first install NVDA on Windows 10 it defaults to Microsoft David from OneCore. On earlier versions of Windows it defaults to eSpeak (the one with an infamous reputation) because OneCore doesn't exist on earlier versions of Windows. Even if you're using another voice like Zira or Mark or whatever for most of the time, David will still be the voice used on secure screens like the startup screen unless you tweak a setting in the General category.
